The John Paolillo Memorial Scholarship Fund's race/fundraiser (run or walk) and post-race celebration honors of our fallen community hero, John Paolillo. Our goal is to raise money to benefit the existing scholarship fund.
On September 11, 2001, Deputy Chief John Paolillo was killed when the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. John was a member of the New York City Fire Department for 25 years. His last post was the Special Operations Command Division of the FDNY.
John was an avid athlete and active member of the Glen Head community; he was a loving father, brother, son, uncle, and a friend to all.
Shortly after his death, a scholarship fund was established in John's memory at the North Shore High School. Every year, one senior is chosen from the graduating class of the North Shore High School to be the recipient of the John Paolillo Memorial Scholarship Fund Award.
The recipient of the award is the student who displays the most democratic awareness, right to individuality and community spirit - all qualities that werre possessed by John.
John Paolillo will never be forgotten.
